2.08.010 Composition.


The department of general government shall be composed of the divisions enumerated in this chapter. (Prior code º 2-19)

2.08.020 General administration division- City manager generally.*


The city manager, for the purposes of this chapter, shall be the head of the general administration division. (Prior code º 2-20)

2.08.030 General administration division- Deputy city manager generally.


The office of deputy city manager is created. This office shall have assigned to it such duties and responsibilities as the city manager may direct. This office shall be a part of the general administration division. (Prior code º 2-20.1)

2.08.040 General administration division- Assistant deputy city manager generally.


The office of assistant deputy city manager is created. This office shall be a part of the general administration division. (Prior code º 2-20.2)

2.08.050 General administration division- Deputy redevelopment director generally.


The office of deputy redevelopment director is created. This office shall be a part of the general administration division. (Prior code º 2-20.3)

2.08.060 Finance division-Director of finance and administrative services generally.*


The director of finance and administrative services, for the purposes of this chapter, shall be the head of the finance division. (Prior code º 2-21)

2.08.070 Information services division- Director of information services generally.


The information services division is created. The director of information services shall be the head of the information services division. (Ord. 4970, º 1, 1991: prior code º 2-21.1)

2.08.080 City clerk's division-City clerk generally.*


The city clerk, for the purposes of this chapter, shall be the head of the city clerk's division. (Prior code º 2-22)

2.08.090 Treasurer's division-City treasurer generally.*


The city treasurer, for the purposes of this chapter, shall be the head of the treasurer's division. (Prior code º 2-23)

2.08.100 Legal division-City attorney generally.*


A. The city attorney, for the purposes of this chapter, shall be the head of the legal division and shall appoint and remove all assistants and deputies in the division, subject to the approval of the council.

B. One or more deputy city attorneys designated by the city attorney shall be ex officio city prosecutors. They shall have charge of the prosecution of all criminal cases which are violations of the city charter and city ordinances and such misdemeanor violations of the laws of the state as may be assigned to them by the city attorney. 2.08.110 Civil service division-Civil service commission generally.*


The civil service commission shall be the head of the civil service division and shall appoint and remove all subordinates in such division, as provided by Article XXIV of the city charter. All other divisions shall accept the signature of the chief examiner as authenticating the acts of the commission. (Prior code º 2-25)

2.08.120 Planning division-Director of planning generally.


The office of director of planning is created. For the purposes of this chapter, the director of planning shall be the head of the planning division. He or she shall advise the city planning commission and the council as to all matters arising under Article XV of the city charter, and shall have such other powers and duties as the council shall prescribe.
